A história gira em torno de Akira, que entra em coma e acorda na cidade em ruínas de um mundo do futuro em que a tecnologia de IA progrediu muito, com uma organização chamada OWEL controlando a população e um novo sistema chamado "Elsie" suplantou o casamento. Uma androide chamada Yugure, que se assemelha à amada namorada de Akira, Towasa, se aproxima de Akira e o pede em casamento. Akira, acreditando que se reunirá com Towasa, embarca em uma jornada com Yugure por este novo mundo.
